The Portal of Grace was not built so much as she was called into being. From the first lattice bent into a circle to the moment the crown wheel was lifted into place and sunlight poured through the toono, it was clear that something more than timber and felt was taking shape in this forest clearing.
Her name carries the resonance of both grace and beauty, of something feminine and enduring. She was raised by many hands over many days, each person who helped erect her walls and drape her canvas leaving something of themselves behind. That collaborative spirit never left. It became the very bones of the place.
Years have passed since that first raising. Seasons have moved through her — frost crystallizing on the canvas, summer heat turning the interior into a golden lantern, autumn rains drumming a steady rhythm on the roof. She has weathered all of it, and she has grown more beautiful for it.
A Living History
We believe that this temple has stood at the heart of this forest sanctuary for years, evolving with every gathering that moves through her. She is not static — she breathes, she holds, she remembers.
Every ceremony, every song, every tear shed within her circle has woven itself into her walls. Those who enter feel it immediately — a sense that they are stepping into something that has been tended with love.
The Forest That Holds Her
To reach The Portal of Grace and our yurt/temple, you walk. The path itself is part of the arrival — a deliberate unwinding that begins the moment your feet meet the earth and the canopy closes overhead.
Ancient Canopy
Towering firs and cedars form a cathedral ceiling above the path. Their roots run deep, their presence ancient — a natural threshold between the world you came from and the one you are entering.
Living Waters
A small pond sits along the southern edge of the sanctuary, its voice constant and unhurried. Visitors often pause here before entering — drawn to the water, to stillness, to the invitation to slow down.
Wild Companions
The forest around us is alive with birdsong and small movements in the undergrowth. The sanctuary does not exist apart from the wild — it is embedded within it, a circle of human presence held gently by the more-than-human world.
Inside the Circle
The interior of the temple is designed to awaken the senses and quiet the mind — a space that is simultaneously humble and breathtaking.
Every element inside the temple — the rugs, the altar, the arrangement of cushions — is placed with intention. Nothing is accidental. Everything invites you deeper into presence.
Ceremony
What Happens Inside
The Portal of Grace has held it all. She has witnessed the wild joy of ecstatic dance, the tender silence of a grief circle, the laughter of children tumbling through a rite of passage. She has held weddings and funerals, first ceremonies and final farewells. No emotion is too large for her, and none too small.
Music & Sound
Drums, singing bowls, harps, and human voices have all found their resonance within the curved walls. The acoustics are extraordinary — every sound seems to be received and returned, amplified and held.
Healing Circles
From somatic bodywork to plant medicine ceremonies, from grief rituals to joy practices — the temple and surrounding land has held a wide spectrum of healing modalities with equal grace and quiet authority.
Seasonal Ceremony
The solstices, equinoxes, and turning points of the year are marked here. Gathering with the seasons reconnects participants to the ancient rhythms that run beneath the noise of modern life.
Rites of Passage
Births, becomings, and endings are all honored here. the Portal of Grace holds space for the full arc of a human life — helping people cross thresholds with dignity, witness, and community.
Voices From the Circle
What Visitors Say
Every person who enters SriAna carries the experience forward in their own way. These are a few of the words left behind.
"I've been to many sacred spaces around the world. the Portal of Grace is unlike any of them. The moment I stepped inside, I felt held — truly held — in a way I hadn't expected. Something in me exhaled that I didn't know was holding its breath."
— Maya R., retreat participant
"We held our awakeing ceremony in the temple. I keep returning to the memory of candlelight on the curved walls, our friends in a circle around us, the forest breathing just outside. It was the most beautiful space I have ever stood in."
— James & Theo, ceremony guests
"I came to this special place in one of the hardest seasons of my life. I didn't know what I needed. The space knew. I wept, I slept, I sat in circles, I walked the forest paths. By the time I left, I could breathe again."
— Dana K., healing retreat
Woven by Many Hands
The Portal of Grace exists because of community — and she exists for community. The circles that form within her walls are among the most vital things she offers.
The Power of the Circle
There is something ancient and necessary about sitting in a circle — no heads of tables, no hierarchies of seating, just faces turned toward one another across a shared center. The temple's round walls make every gathering a circle, whether it is intended or not. The geometry itself does the work of reminding us: we are all equidistant from the center. We are all equally here.
Community as Medicine
In a time of profound disconnection, the simple act of gathering with intention has become its own form of healing. Our temple offers a container for that gathering — a place where strangers become circle-mates, where old friendships deepen, where people who have been isolated find that they are not, in fact, alone. The community that forms in her embrace often continues long after participants return home.
The Path There
The Walk In
Every arrival at the Portal of Grace is a small ceremony unto itself. The forest path asks something of you — it asks you to slow down, to notice, to arrive not just physically but fully. The walk through the trees is not incidental to the experience. It is the beginning of it.
Leave the Road
Step away from the parking area and feel the ground shift beneath your feet. Gravel and wood chips give way to earth. The sound of traffic fades. The forest receives you.
Cross the Stream
A cozy deck with outdoor seating graces and overlooking the obsidian pond graces the front of the temple. Many visitors pause here, watching the water, letting something unknot inside them before they continue.
Enter the Clearing
The trees open, and the temple and sacred pond appear — the temple canvas glowing, her crown wheel visible against the sky. The sight of her is often enough to bring tears to those arriving for the first time.
Cross the Threshold
Remove your shoes. Bow your head slightly if it feels right. Step inside. The space receives you as it has received manybefore you — with patience, with warmth, with welcome.
Light, Warmth & the Altar
The interior atmosphere of the temple is tended as carefully as any garden. Light is considered. Scent is considered. Everything that enters the space is chosen to serve the whole.
Candlelight as Ritual
The temple is lit by candles, lights and spirit after dusk. The warm, living light of flame does something that electricity cannot — it slows time, softens faces, and invites the unconscious to relax its grip. The lighting of candles at the opening of each gathering is itself a small ceremony, a signal to all present that something is beginning.
The Central Altar
At the heart of the Portal of Grace's interior, a central altar holds the intentions of each gathering. It is rebuilt for every event — new flowers, new objects brought by participants, new arrangements of stone and seed and symbol. Above the altar is the living portal itself - a large and beautiful painting crafted with care and love by Kim. It is a living mirror of who is present and a portal to a future of grace, beauty and love.
Scent & Atmosphere
Cedar smoke, wild rose, pine resin, and the clean mineral scent of rain on canvas — the atmosphere of the temple engages every sense. Participants frequently report that a particular scent from the space returns to them weeks later, unlocking something felt and not yet fully named. The body remembers what the mind may have only partially registered.
Come Experience The Portal of Grace
There is a place in the forest where a circle of bent wood and layered canvas holds something far larger than its physical dimensions suggest. Where the fire is always tended, the threshold is always open, and the community is always gathering.
You do not need to know why you are drawn here. The forest path knows. the temple knows. Come, and let yourself be received.
Whether you are seeking ceremony, healing, music, community, or simply a place to remember who you are — the temple is waiting. The yurt stands in the forest, her crown open to the sky, her door facing the path that leads to you.
